EGG: Ellesmere Green Group
Ellesmere Goes Green is a movement to include all people, organisations and businesses of Ellesmere who want to make the community more environmentally responsible.

The Green Shropshire website aims to provide an easy way to all the 'green' websites in Shropshire.

Silvaspin - Agroforestry in Shropshire: The Hollies is an organic farm of 40 acres rearing about 60 head of beef cattle. The nature of the project here is designed to bring together elements of the open-field system of agriculture common in Britain until the Enclosure Acts and the agro forestry of mainland Europe and Asia, and create an agriculture more relevant to modern times incorporating arboreal concepts such a surface shading, methane absorption and humidity (mist) harvesting.

Wem Bike Track, the group are looking for support to build a bike track in Wem. There are 4 tracks in Shrewsbury, one in Hodnot, one in Kinnerly but none in Wem nor the immediate area.

Wem Carnival, a not-to-be missed event held every September.

Wem Civic Society normally meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm in the Senior Club, Chapel Street, Wem.

Wem Combine Harvesters consists of representatives from Wem Civic Society, Wem & District Garden Club and Wem Transition Town Initiative. The group was formed in 2010 to organise a Harvest Market and now aims to run both a Spring and Harvest Market in Wem Town Hall each year.
The aims of the markets are to:
1. Attract more shoppers into Wem.
2. Provide an outlet for small local food, drink and craft producers.
3. Encourage those who came into the market to look at the rest of Wem’s shops.
4. Raise funds for running of the three groups and their projects.

Wem Town Council

Wem Town Hall is developing a broad programme of activities including regular cinema screenings, dance classes, visual arts and crafts, music events and theatre, film production, etc. There are a variety of rooms available for hire, all of which provide flexible spaces and are suitable for a range of events, conference, meetings and workshops.

Climate Friendly Food is a not-for-profit social enterprise that exists to help reduce the carbon emissions from food production around the world. The site includes a carbon calculator for farmers and growers.
The Food for Life Partnership is a network of schools and communities across England committed to transforming food culture. Led by the Soil Association, the Food for Life Partnership brings together the practical expertise of the Focus on Food Campaign, Garden Organic and the Health Education Trust.
LandShare UK linking growers and landowners.
LandShare The ultimate aim of LandShare is to encourage and introduce systems of agriculture and food distribution worldwide that are designed expressly to feed people, now and far into the future, without injustice to the producers, without cruelty to livestock, and without destroying wild creatures or compromising the fabric of the Earth; and which remain within the control of the host countries and their people, and are rooted as far as possible in local traditions.
Making Local Food Work Their objective is to 'reconnect people and land through local food, increasing access to fresh, healthy, local food with clear, traceable origins'. The initiative is managed by the Plunkett Foundation and funded by the Big Lottery Fund to explore community enterprise approaches to connecting land and people through food. Includes information on community supported agriculture and shops.
Organic Centre Wales is sponsored by the Welsh Assembly Government and was established in 2000 to provide information for the organic sector in Wales. It is run by a partnership of ADAS Wales, Aberystwyth University and The Organic Research Centre, Elm Farm.
The Permaculture Association is the national charity that supports members and the public with advice, support, information and training about the theory and practice of permaculture. The association started in 1983 and this is an updated website for the organisation that has been launched in 'beta mode' which means it is still a bit of a work in progress.
Plants for a future is a resource centre for rare and unusual plants, edible, medicinal and those with other uses. The website authors emphasise that to the best of their knowledge the information contained is accurate but they cannot guarantee that everyone will react positively to all edible plants or other plant uses.
The Soil Association promotes planet-friendly food and farming through education, campaigns and community programmes.
Todmorden (incredible-edible) - aims to increase the amount of local food grown and eaten in the town.

The Energy Saving Trust is a non-profit organisation that provides free and impartial advice on how to stop wasting energy.
The Feasta - the Foundation for the Economics of Sustainability - aims to identify the characteristics (economic, cultural and environmental) of a truly sustainable society, articulate how the necessary transition can be effected and promote the implementation of the measures required for this purpose.

The Post Carbon Institute aims to lead the transition to a more resilient, equitable and sustainable world. Founded in 2003.
